Welcome to Freedom Centre
IN THE BEGINNING
A small group of people whose lives were being radically transformed by God gathered together and began to dream. Their dream was rooted in a deep-seated yearning to become what they felt most people were looking for in life - the "real thing." With God's help, they committed to becoming more like the One who is the real thing, Jesus Christ, and they set out to do the stuff He said people could do in this world on His behalf.
GIVING IT AWAY
Over the years, the group grew and grew until it formed a small community. One day, as they were taking stock of all they were, all they had and all they wanted to be, they realized what they must do next if they were to become more like the Real Thing -- they must give it all away. So they began. One day they gave away all they had, which was thousands of dollars in a building fund. Another day they gave away all they were and helped the Muslim cultural centre clean up after they were vandalized. Some even gave up all they wanted to be and moved closer in order to be more. And then one day, someone decided to give something to the little community! And that is the story of how The Freedom Centre International (FCI), armed with a dream and faith in the God who is the Real Thing, received a quarter of a million dollars to purchase their first centre on Lakeshore.
THE STORY CONTINUES
Today, the people in the FCI community are still committed to giving it all away in order to be more like Jesus. We are a people who long to see a better world through advocacy, love, and service to both our local and global communities. Like David's team in the cave of Adulum, we realize we all begin "desperate, despondent and in debt." But with God's love, we are transformed into history-makers and become a people who are sent out to change the world.
...that the scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the complete revelation of God's will for the salvation of humanity, and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life.
...in one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
...that Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, according to the Scriptures. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where He now sits as our High Priest and Advocate.
...that the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection provide the only grounds for justification and salvation for all who repent and believe, and that all those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become the children of God.
...that the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, convict people, regenerate, indwell, guide, gift, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service.
...that humans were created in the image of God, but fell into sin and are therefore separated from God. Only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit is salvation effected and relationship with God restored.
...that the true Church is composed of all people who through saving faith in Christ Jesus have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the head.
...in the bodily resurrection of the dead: of the believer to eternal fellowship with God and of the unbeliever to eternal condemnation.
The Power and anointing of the Holy Spirit
Our desire is to allow the Spirit to possess us and dispense us in every area of life and ministry. The anointing to accomplish in the Spirit what we cannot accomplish in the flesh will be a distinguishing characteristic of a vibrant, soul-winning church. Lk. 24:49; Acts 2:1-4; Acts 4:29-31; 1Jn. 2:27
We believe the pattern for New Testament worship is to be found in the Davidic order of worship described in the Psalms and birthed in the Tabernacle of David in the Old Testament. Davidic worship is demonstrative worship characterized by the biblical expressions of clapping, shouting, singing, dancing, bowing, and banners. Ps.150; SS. 3:1-4; Jn. 4:24; Eph.5:19-20; Rev.19:5-8
The ministries listed in Ephesians 4:11 are to be fully functioning right up till the return of Christ. This includes apostles and prophets, not just pastors, teachers, and evangelists. All these ministries are needed if the body of Christ is going to be properly equipped and the church is going to be properly built up. Eph. 4:11-13; 1 Cor. 12:28
To teach disciples the words, works and life of Christ through mentoring friendships, personal example and formal teaching. Small home groups are imperative and will serve as the primary means of discipling new believers. We are called to be spiritual midwives. Jos. 1:8; Prov. 23:12; Matt:28:19
We will seek the Lord to know Him and to send revival throughout the land. We will also engage in strategic-level spiritual warfare and intercession for the community, city, and nations. Deliverance ministry, prayer-walking, and other on-site prayer journeys will take place as we endeavor to discern and tear down spiritual strongholds in the community, city, and nations. We understand that in order for these strongholds to be torn down in the city, they must first be torn down in the church. Matt.9:38; 2Cor. 10:4; 1Cor. 2:15
We shall decentralize ministry to the body of Christ through the gifts and administrations of the Spirit in order to release the body to be ministers. A system of accountability will be in place to ensure the maximum potential of every believer is utilized for their destiny to be fulfilled. The laity will be the force behind the driving force of people involved in ministry. Jn. 20:21; 1 Tim.4:11
God is restoring the natural family to it's proper place and function. He is in the process of healing marriages, strengthening parents, and teaching men and women more about their God-given roles. People need a place where they can lay down spiritual roots in the atmosphere of familial love, acceptance, and responsibility. Children will be released to pray and preach publicly as well as be allowed to express their worship of God and the gifts of the Holy Spirit in them. Jer. 31:1; Mal.4:6
One of our primary missions is to reach the lost. Therefore, our desire is to cultivate a church culture where outreach to the community, city, and nations is a passionate priority for every believer and where apostolic ministry is realized through church planting. An ongoing emphasis of mission will be woven through every ministry of the church. Church planting has been called the most effective form of evangelism and will serve as the means to ensure the ongoing process of winning, building, equipping, and releasing disciples for Christ, both locally and internationally. Lighthouse of prayer will be established throughout the city as we endeavor to win our neighbors to Christ. Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5; 1Cor. 9:19-23.
The spiritual restoration of individuals who have lost their first love will be a vital component to the overall ministry of Freedom Centre. We are committed to the total freedom of those who may be in spiritual bondage and in need of deliverance from demonic strongholds and curses. 2 Cor.10:3-5; Luke11:21-22.
We will value Holy Spirit-led creativity, pioneering of new ministries, and be initiators and history makers with God. This process will take place at every level of leadership and ministry as we take spiritual inventory and implore the help and guidance of the Holy Spirit to shed old wineskins and take on new. Matt. 9:17; Acts 17:28
Partners in Harvest
PIH is a family of churches united in their passion for Jesus and the organization who provides Freedom Centre International with on-going support and accountability.
PIH is an open family for churches, an avenue offering relationship (mutual encouragement, blessing, and accountability) and practical support (particularly for evangelism, missions, strategic networking using the PIH Resource Teams).
Partner pastors, ministry leaders and congregations share common foundational Kingdom beliefs, values and goals, which form and support a clear sense of purpose and identity. As the family grows, we are willing to link together locally, regionally, nationally and internationally to share resources, provide training and form strategy. This is based upon the understanding that each PIH member church/ministry is autonomous, yet has the freedom to choose to opt into any of these activities on a regional or international basis. In this way, family members can successfully attain mutual ministry goals in the Father's Love.
