“Praise the Lord, all His works everywhere in His dominion. Praise the Lord, my soul.” – Psalms 103:22
“Great are the works of the Lord; they are pondered by all who delight in them.” – Psalms 111:2
This week we started VBS at Freedom Centre. Our verse of the Day today was Psalm 103:22 as you read above. Our lesson in our scripture station talked about praise. We had the children share ideas of what they like to do for fun. Some of their answers were:
- Dancing
- Fishing
- Playing outside
- Swimming
- Playing video games
- Playing with their friends
Next we played a dance game where we had to clap, stomp and sing along to a video that got progressively more challenging as we went along. It was so much fun and I’m sure Kersten appreciated the new sound track that shook above his office!
The lesson we took away today was that praise doesn’t need to look perfect. Simply having fun with our Creator is what it looks like to praise Him!
I love the childlike simplicity of today’s message. It spoke to my heart and also kicked any religious spirit out of the way. Praise the Lord!
We do not require a formula to praise God or a system of striving to please Him! He loves when we have fun and invite Him into the things we enjoy doing, like dancing, swimming and playing with our friends. Finding joy on this earth actually praises our Creator because He loves us and enjoys His children as they take delight!
My question for you (and me!) this week is… what do you like to do for fun? And how can you invite God into that space?
I encourage you to read the whole psalms above as they are so beautiful and a great way to praise our wonderful God!
Take care,
Amanda Robertson
