Our History

How it started

A small group of people whose lives were being radically transformed by God gathered together and began to dream. Their dream was rooted in a deep-seated yearning to become what they felt most people were looking for in life - the "real thing." With God's help, they committed to becoming more like the One who is the real thing, Jesus Christ, and they set out to do the stuff He said people could do in this world on His behalf.

Growth & Giving

Over the years, the group grew and grew until it formed a small community. One day, as they were taking stock of all they were, all they had and all they wanted to be, they realized what they must do next if they were to become more like the Real Thing -- they must give it all away. So they began.

One day they gave away all they had, which was thousands of dollars in a building fund. Another day they gave away all they were and helped the Muslim cultural centre clean up after they were vandalized. Some even gave up all they wanted to be and moved closer in order to be more. And then one day, someone decided to give something to the little community! And that is the story of how The Freedom Centre International (FCI), armed with a dream and faith in the God who is the Real Thing, received a quarter of a million dollars to purchase their first centre on Lakeshore.

The story continues

Today, the people in the FCI community are still committed to giving it all away in order to be more like Jesus. We are a people who long to see a better world through advocacy, love, and service to both our local and global communities. Like David's team in the cave of Adulum, we realize we all begin "desperate, despondent and in debt." But with God's love, we are transformed into history-makers and become a people who are sent out to change the world.

What We Believe

In one God, Creator of all things, infinitely perfect and eternally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

In the bodily resurrection of the dead: of the believer to eternal fellowship with God and of the unbeliever to eternal condemnation.

That the scriptures, both Old and New Testaments, are the inspired and inerrant Word of God, the complete revelation of God's will for the salvation of humanity, and the Divine and final authority for Christian faith and life.

That Jesus Christ was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, according to the Scriptures. He arose bodily from the dead, ascended into heaven where He now sits as our High Priest and Advocate.

That the sacrificial death of Jesus Christ on the cross and His resurrection provide the only grounds for justification and salvation for all who repent and believe, and that all those who receive Jesus Christ are born of the Holy Spirit and thus become the children of God.

That the ministry of the Holy Spirit is to glorify the Lord Jesus Christ, convict people, regenerate, indwell, guide, gift, instruct, and empower the believer for Godly living and service.

That humans were created in the image of God, but fell into sin and are therefore separated from God. Only through regeneration by the Holy Spirit is salvation effected and relationship with God restored.

That the true Church is composed of all people who through saving faith in Christ Jesus have been regenerated by the Holy Spirit and are united together in the Body of Christ of which He is the head.

That the Biblical definition of marriage is between one biological man and one biological woman.

Marriage is a unique reflection of God’s faithful love for all humankind. The relationship of husband and wife reflects the covenanting self-giving love between Christ and His Church.

Our Values

We will seek the Lord to know Him and to send revival throughout the land. We will also engage in strategic-level spiritual warfare and intercession for the community, city, and nations. Deliverance ministry, prayer-walking, and other on-site prayer journeys will take place as we endeavor to discern and tear down spiritual strongholds in the community, city, and nations. We understand that in order for these strongholds to be torn down in the city, they must first be torn down in the church. Matt.9:38; 2Cor. 10:4; 1Cor. 2:15

God is restoring the natural family to its proper place and function. He is in the process of healing marriages, strengthening parents, and teaching men and women more about their God-given roles. People need a place where they can lay down spiritual roots in the atmosphere of familial love, acceptance, and responsibility. Children will be released to pray and preach publicly as well as be allowed to express their worship of God and the gifts of the Holy Spirit in them. Jer. 31:1; Mal.4:6

One of our primary missions is to reach the lost. Therefore, our desire is to cultivate a church culture where outreach to the community, city, and nations is a passionate priority for every believer and where apostolic ministry is realized through church planting. An ongoing emphasis of mission will be woven through every ministry of the church. Church planting has been called the most effective form of evangelism and will serve as the means to ensure the ongoing process of winning, building, equipping, and releasing disciples for Christ, both locally and internationally. Lighthouse of prayer will be established throughout the city as we endeavor to win our neighbors to Christ. Acts 14:23; Titus 1:5; 1Cor. 9:19-23.

Our Covering

Harvest Alliance

As of January 1st, 2020 many of our churches and ministry friends have come together as a new expression of our revival movement. This will continue to be a relational, apostolic network of churches birthed in revival and carrying the DNA of our ‘FIRE’ values. As change and momentum turn into a new and exciting chapter for our global family, we are inviting all our friends to come and journey with us.
