“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-29

Years ago a missionary friend of mine said that God asked him, “Is the good news still good news for the poor?” In other words: is the saving, inclusive, restorative message of the cross still feeling restorative for those who are poor? The word poor often makes us think of finances, but what about the poor in hope or joy, the poor in relationships, the poor in understanding or influence. Is the good news still good news to ALL the poor?

Last week the same missionary’s wife posted a piece of writing called YOU CAN SIT WITH ME!!! By Heather M. Bagnell. The message of the writing is that it does not matter what state you enter the church building, you are loved and there is a place for you right next to Christians who will be there for you. I believe that the Lord is about to draw his children back in through the doors of our churches. I hope you will join me in loving, with open hearts, whomever the Lord drops off. Join me in helping them to understand his love and restoration in slow steps and tender moments.
