The other day I heard God say, “I sit in the living room of your heart.”
In a world where time is both precious and feels so limited, God is not. He sits and He abides in us. It reminds me of the many times that Jesus reclined at the table with His friends. To recline means to lean back and rest.
Sometimes I wonder when I might have a chance to recline in His presence amidst making meals, teaching children, and changing diapers, but if that’s my worry, He makes a way. He comes to me. He reclines in my heart. He finds space, He makes His home in my heart.
What a sweet reminder of the friend and father He is.
My encouragement to you this week is to remember that He lives in you. You do not need to search for Him high and low. You do not need to work your way back into His presence if you feel you’ve wandered off or ran the other way. He has already found His home inside of you. So just take a moment to see Him reclining in your life.
As you drive to work, as you clean your house, as you run errands and launder your clothes, as you make appointments and rush into a meeting, He is at home in your heart! He is always there. You can worship Him as you give your best. You can honour Him as you speak wisdom and kindness to those around you. You can love Him while you wipe a snotty nose or faithfully get up with your alarm in the morning. He is not apart from our coming and our going, He is in the hallway, at the door, reclining at our table. He rests upon your life and in your life!
