“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.” – 2 Corinthians 5:17-19 NIV
A few weeks ago when Dan Mohler was visiting I saw a picture in the Sunday morning service. A bunch of us in the congregation were shedding old skin, like a snake would shed their skin and grow new scales. It was a powerful image of “the old has gone, the new has come!”
God is so gracious to us. He is always in the business of taking what isn’t good anymore and giving us something different, something new. Old skin is just a pain! It’s rough, it may be callous, it catches on things, it doesn’t allow our body to properly breathe or absorb anything. New skin is smooth, breathable, a mark of healing.
What is the old that God wants us to shed? What is the new life, promise, purpose, hope He has for us? For you? All of this is found in Him. I encourage you to seek Him this week and commune with Him. Ask Him to show you what He wants to do in your life and in your heart, and what He wants to do through you as well. As the verse above so beautifully reminds us, He holds nothing against us and He has committed to us, reconciliation and new life. Enjoy the new that He has for you!
Be blessed,
